All-Wales supply chain goes from strength to strength

A purchasing framework which supports public sector organisations to purchase building materials is celebrating another successful year of operation, with a significant boost to the Welsh economy.

Established in March 2024, Ffrâm24, which we lead, is an all-Wales framework made up of 37 suppliers and is designed to offer comprehensive solutions for building materials and associated services.  As a Wales-only initiative, it stands out for its significant social impact, directing investment into Welsh companies and ensuring that the social value generated remains within Wales.

Ffrâm24 memberships already extend to local authorities, housing associations, third sector and other public bodies which have signed up to the Framework, with an increase of 29% in membership, compared with the previous year.

Over the past two years, Ffrâm24 has generated £203,000 of social value for Welsh communities.

Martin Burger, Head of Frameworks at Ffrâm24, said: “We are delighted that Ffrâm24 has continued to grow steadily during the year and is having such a positive impact on the Welsh economy.

“Ffrâm24 has been set up to provide an effective, cost-efficient way for organisations to purchase building materials. By doing so, it boosts the circular economy and keeping the Welsh pound local, supports a strong direction of socially responsible procurement and promotes a resilient and sustainable future for Wales.

“The success of Ffrâm24 is not only measured by its efficiency in meeting the procurement needs of Welsh organisations, but also by its social impact.

“Last September, we hosted the ‘Building Wales Together’ event at the Utilita Arena in Cardiff. Over 400 visitors and exhibitors attended, with a range of speakers from organisations such as Welsh Government, Ardal and Business Wales amongst the speakers. It was an opportunity to showcase the benefits of Ffrâm24 to public sector organisations, but also to the suppliers themselves.

“The team has also supported a number of national events, including the Housing Industry Leaders conference, Business Wales expo in Swansea and Llandudno, Social Business Wales event and awards, TAI, Procurex and Go Awards Wales.

“Ffrâm24 is all about creating connections and forming partnerships between Welsh organisations and companies, encouraging them to work together and promoting the growth of a supportive business community. By nurturing these partnerships, we aim to create a positive ripple effect, contributing not only to the success of individual projects but also to the overall prosperity of Welsh businesses and communities”.
