Director puts his stamp on Welsh drama production
One of our directors has taken on a different role this week – treading the boards at the National Eisteddfod in Wrexham.
Rhys Parry, our Director of Resources is a member of Theatr Fach, Llangefni and he’s part of their latest production called ‘Stamp’, a story based on the real life experience of Noel Thomas, an ex-postmaster from Gaerwen who was one of the postmasters jailed as part of the Horizon scandal.
The production is currently on tour, with performances having already taken place at the Eisteddfod on two separate nights this week. The Eisteddfod performance follows six sell-out shows at Theatr Fach last month, with further performances planned over the coming weeks in north Wales.
In the production, Rhys plays a number of characters, including the roles of Edwin (Noel’s son), an auditor, a prisoner and also former Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Rhys said: “It’s been a tremendous honour to be a part of this production.
“Noel Thomas’ story is well-publicised and has captured the hearts of people who have followed the case right from the beginning. It’s been a tale of huge public interest and that is clear from the number of people attending our performances.
“The reaction to the production has been fantastic and were honoured to have Noel present at one of our performances last month.
“We hope that we have done his story justice”.
