Going the extra mile to support tenants and communities
We’r delighted to announce that we and our partners created £22.9 million worth of social value to communities across North Wales over the past year, and we’ve published our annual social value report.
Social value calculates the benefits an organisation delivers to people and communities, such as training, supporting the local economy, improving people’s wellbeing and supporting communities to work with each other.
Examples included in this year’s report include case studies on how we have supported tenants to live independently in their own home, community clean -up events, trainee apprenticeships and employment and training opportunities offered through our flagship Academi Adra programme.
The report also provides facts and figures on how we have supported people and the local economy. Highlights include:
- 263 individuals in supported housing visited three times a week
- Academi Adra generated £295,487 of social value
- 422 fuel bank and 121 foodbank vouchers were issued
- 163 referrals were made to Citizens Advice Bureau Gwynedd
- £49,574,425 was spent with suppliers in North Wales
- 18 community grants were issued
- £436,308 of social value was generated during 5 environmental days, working with 10 partner organisations.
Sasha Davies, Chair of our Board, said: “We use our annual social value report as an opportunity to reflect on all the work that has gone into supporting our customers and communities to thrive.
“It has been an important year for us as we launched our new Corporate Plan.
“Many of our projects which add social value reflect the priorities highlighted in our Corporate Plan around improving our homes; making a positive difference; creating more homes and fostering a ‘one team’ culture within our own organisation.
“Social value underpins every one of these priorities and it’s great to see how our work is having a positive impact in our communities.
Iwan Trefor Jones, our Chief Executive, said: “We have a dedicated team of staff who work tirelessly to improve the quality of life of our tenants and help our communities thrive, every day of the year. But we cannot do this on our own.
“The support of our strategic partners, contractors and wider communities is essential. We take pride in our diverse partnerships – close collaboration generates real returns for communities. We thank them for making a positive contribution to our communities”.
