How Supported Housing makes living independent feel safe, social and supported

When we visited Sulwen at her home recently, one thing was clear: Enfys, her Supporting Housing Officer has made a remarkable difference to her day to day life.

Living independently is something Sulwen values and with the help of her Supported Housing Officer, she’s been able to maintain that independence.

“She’s lovely, always there to help me,” Sulwen told us.

For Sulwen, that support comes from a service designed around encouragement, empowerment, and practical help.

Our Supported Housing Officers work closely with tenants to ensure they feel:

  • safe
  • supported
  • able to live well in their homes.

Each tenant receives tailored help through a structured support plan. For Sulwen this means regular contact and someone to rely on, our Supported Housing officers can make up to three weekly contacts, whether this is through visits or phone calls, it means a familiar voice and a trusted presence she can depend on.

Sulwen explains that she already feels fortunate to have a loving family around her, but the support from Enfys has added an extra of comfort and support to her life:

“I’m very lucky to have the help and support of my family, but it’s lovely to have Enfys too as extra support.”

The support Sulwen receives has allowed her to stay independent and feel confident in her own home and she encourages other to use the service.
