New plug-in solar panels not allowed in our homes
We’re informing tenants that new plug-in solar panels now available on the market are not permitted in our homes.
The decision not to allow the panels to be installed has been made on health and safety grounds.
They include:
- The risk of electrical faults or overloading circuits.
- Potential fire hazards from unapproved or incompatible equipment.
- Concerns around installation safety, particularly with cables, adapters and external positioning, and placement of units.
- The need to ensure all electrical systems in our properties remain compliant and safe for all residents.
Portable or plug-in solar panels must not be connected to your property’s electrical supply under any circumstances.
This includes devices that plug into standard sockets or feed directly into your home electrics.
As a landlord, we have a duty to ensure that all properties meet strict safety standards. Unauthorised electrical equipment of this nature presents a risk that we are unable to approve or manage.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe living environment for everyone.
