Adra Repairs team builds social housing

We are building two affordable homes in Bro Pedr Fardd, Garndolbenmaen to meet the local housing need with the use of a social housing grant from the Welsh Government.

For the first time, we have appointed our in-house Repairs team as contractor to build the houses. This is an exciting time for the Repairs team and for us all here at Adra.

The Adra Repairs team are currently building two houses in Bro Pedr and have been working with MBC Timber Frame to lay the foundation and install the timber frame for the houses. The Adra Repairs team is the main contractor and has appointed Tom James Construction and MBC Timber Frame to complete aspects of the work.

These houses will use air source heat pumps and solar panels that are very green in energy and align with Adra’s commitment to the environment and decarbonisation.

We are building the houses on their land to meet the local need for social housing.

Iwan Trefor Jones, Deputy Chief Executive of Adra, said:

“We are delighted to be able to start building our own houses and to see a talented Repairs team at work.

“Developing the skills of our staff, teams and providing new experiences is something we are delighted to be able to do, especially as we are able to combine this with providing needed housing for local residents.

“Building houses with solar panels and air source heat pumps ensuring the use of green energy is also important to us.

“This ties into our decarbonisation strategy and our upcoming Decarbonisation Hub in Penygroes. This is an opportunity to develop skills, work in partnership and secure a green future for us in north Wales.

“We’re delighted with the opportunity to build these houses and we’re really looking forward to seeing them built and seeing local families benefit from living in them.”
