Check your smoke detectors appeal to housing association tenants

Adra, North Wales largest housing association is reminding tenants to make sure they check their smoke alarms on a regular basis.

The appeal follows a kitchen fire at a property in Penygroes this week and a working smoke alarm meant that North Wales Fire and Rescue Service could be alerted.

Now Adra is asking tenants to check their smoke alarms at least once a month.

Celfyn Evans, Adra’s Safety Compliance Officer, said: “This property had a working smoke detector and that was an important factor in this incident, as it means that the fire and rescue service could be alerted.

“Having working smoke detectors really do make a difference and helps saves lives. We want everyone to be safe in their properties and taking simple steps like checking smoke alarms as part of a regular routine will help give people peace of mind that they are protecting themselves and their loved ones”.
