Tenants at the heart of Adra’s work

Adra, North Wales’ largest housing association has outlined how it plans to involve tenants in its decision making and ensuring their have a strong voice in how services are developed.

The Adra Board has formally approved a document called ‘Eich Llais/ Your Voice’ which sets out how the organisation aims to improve participation levels of Adra tenants across North Wales.

‘Eich Llais/ Your Voice’ encourages more diversity of contributions and welcomes the views of those with lived experience or specific interests.  There will be more focus on digital platforms to engage with tenants, but also face to face visits, less formal meetings and more opportunities to meet the Adra Board.

Hywel Eifion Jones, Chair of Adra’s Board, said: “As a Board, we recognise the importance of listening to our tenants and the vital role that their feedback has played in the development and success of Adra since 2010.

“In April 2022, we launched our ambitious Corporate Plan. The Plan reflects our vision and values, our fundamental principles and the key goals that we want to achieve by 2025. In the Plan, we highlight our continued support for tenant participation by committing to “tailor our services to respond to the needs of our customers, who will be at the heart of what we do” and also to “Improve how we listen and act” to our tenants.

“The Adra Board is fully committed to tenant participation. I believe that ‘Your Voice’ will make sure that the tenant’s views will continue to be heard so that we can successfully deliver the priorities of the Corporate Plan. “

Elin Williams, Adra’s Partnerships Manager, said: “We want to make sure that our customers are at the heart of our work and we have made a firm commitment in the strategy to listening to our tenants and act on what they are telling us.

“Adra is performing well in terms of Tenant Participation with some of the best performance levels in Wales. The revised strategy provides a flexible approach to tailor consultations in a way that works best for our tenants. Eich Llais/ Your Voice also includes activities such as estate walkabouts, community events, a customer panel, online questionnaires and area chats”.

“We look forward to continue improving the way we engage and listen to our tenants and making sure they have a strong voice on how services are developed in the future”.

Tenants wishing to be kept informed of future participation opportunities can let Adra know and details will be shared as they become available. Also, if you would like to immediately join Adra’s Customer Panel, you can be added to the membership list. The next consultation is scheduled for May 2023.
