BBC Bitesize School Tours

Last week, Sarah Roberts and Sophie Lewis from Adra took part in panel discussions that were part of the BBC Bitesize Schools Tour.  

The theme of the tour this term was careers, which visited over 40 schools all over Wales.

Sarah Roberts, Adra’s Human Resources and Organisational Development Officer, joined a panel at Ysgol y Creuddyn, to discuss her work and her career and discuss the work that Adra do, including the various job opportunities available within social housing.  

Sarah said: “It was a privilege to take part on the panel to discuss careers at Ysgol y Creuddyn. It is extremely important that we have these discussions with young people and inspire them.  

“There are so many different opportunities available in the housing sector, from construction jobs to corporate jobs, and much more!”

Sophie Lewis, Adra Community Housing Officer joined the tour at Ysgol Glan Clwyd. Sophie said: “When I was at school, I didn’t want to go to university, and I believe it’s important that pupils realise that you don’t have to go to university in order to have a successful career.  

“I took part in a Housing Training scheme with Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd at the time, and five years later I am still enjoying my job and enjoy working for Adra.”  

Adra offers a variety of opportunities through the Academi Adra scheme, which offers courses and paid work placements in various fields, from construction to customer service. More information about Academi Adra can be found here: Academi Adra – Adra
